Twenty minutes by boat from Stavanger, and suddenly you’re surrounded by palm trees, waterfalls, and 50,000 summer flowers in the heart of Ryfylke. Flor & Fjære on the island of Sør-Hidle is not just a restaurant – it’s a full-day experience where the boat trip, garden walk, and three-course dinner flow seamlessly together. The guides are the family themselves, third generation, and they share their story with a pride and warmth that’s contagious.

The fish soup starter is rich and creamy, with local seafood delivering pure coastal flavour, and the wine is carefully chosen to match each course. It all feels spontaneous and generous, even though everything has been thought through down to the last flower bed. Book well in advance – the season runs only from May to September, and spots fill up fast.
