Fantastic produce straight from the field. Pay with Vipps. Check opening hours before visiting – it is not always open.
The vegetables from Bergen Øko taste as if they were just pulled from the ground, because that is exactly what they are. The market garden at Grimseid in Fana is Bergen’s first and only Debio-certified organic vegetable production, run by friends Dan and Leiv Arne using the no-dig method where the soil is left undisturbed to build up naturally with compost and microorganisms.
The selection changes with the seasons, and everything is harvested the same day it is sold. We are talking carrots with real earthy flavour, lettuce with snap and crunch, and herbs that smell fragrant straight from the bag. Several of Bergen’s best restaurants source their produce here. You pay with Vipps, and the whole experience feels more like a trade over the neighbour’s fence than a shop visit. Check Instagram (@bergenoko) for opening hours before heading out – it is not always open. Grimseidvegen 206, just minutes from Lagunen.
